Williamsburg Meals: Behind the Curtain Tidbits

Sitting on the Board of Directors for Williamsburg Meals on Wheels keeps me in awe of the need in the community and gratitude for the volunteers performing on a daily basis.

Bullets:
-Meal’s average $5.85 – $6.40 each.  Meals are specific, prepared and reviewed by a nutritionist.  The addition of vegan and non-dairy diets are being considered

-Over 240 volunteers are on the rosters, not including the paid staff.  From constructing and delivering the meals to supporting fund raising events, a lot is happening.  Tidbit:  As volunteer grow, so does the need to show appreciation.  Volunteers are also the “eyes and ears” checking in on seniors and their well-being.

November 1 – a new App is being implemented to assist route drivers in their scheduling and rescheduling route needs.

Didn’t think about that:  Historically, Friday meal deliveries include food for the weekend. This year, Christmas and New Years fall on Mondays (Well New Years Day is technically not this year).  So this crack team of “Meals-On-Wheelers” have a plan ensuring food is available on the Holidays.

Good Food Provisions – located at WISC Complex, is where daily meals are prepared and now is selling food to the WISC attendees.  it is slowly gaining traction and keep an eye out this holiday season for “Party Platters” easing a burden on you while benefiting the mission

Finally – thank you from the Golf Tournament Chairman, ME: to all the golfers, sponsors and volunteers who made the 2023 golf event spectacular raising $14, 508.00.  Thanks to my Longwood College buddy’s for coming up and playing.

And here is the inside scoop on an excellent Realtor, give me a call.  Keep smiling.
